Wonderful trip! The park is about two hours south of New Orleans in picturesque Grand Isle. Since we went in October, the park was virtually deserted! There was maybe five other people here, one a work-camper and another a tent camper on the beach…
Looking west, the park was empty!
Our space was beautiful! We were on the south loop. The pull through space was about 80′ x 20′, and the actual space was about 40′ wide, plenty of space to stretch out! There is a picnic table, BBQ grill and fire ring in every spot. The park itself is VERY clean and well maintained. Security patrolled about once an hour, 24-hours. The RV park is behind a levy protecting it from the Gulf of Mexico. There are several trails over the levy to the beach, or you can walk down to the visitors center.
Wood observation decks and wood trails lead to the beach.
We enjoyed quite a few wonderful evenings on the beach! It was very quiet, and you could hear the surf from the Gulf. Being October, this is prime camping in my opinion! No bugs, no people, very relaxing!
It’s important to note there are only a very few places to buy supplies or eat out in the fall and winter. Make sure you’re fully stocked before heading down here. If you’re coming in the summer, be prepared for the mosquitoes at night!
