After hearing all the warnings about being on the wrong side of town, we decided to visit Graceland in the RV anyway! Let me tell you folks, disregard anyone who badmouths the area!
The park has gated security, 24-7, and we felt totally secure and like we were out in the woods camping! This is a very nice RV park, with a wonderful staff, and everything you need for your stay! The WiFi was great, but I doubt you’ll use it much! There was a lot to see and do! Unfortunately, we only had three days in town, so we barely finished Graceland, let alone visited the city. We’ll definitely be back though!
If you’re camping with your toad, I highly recommend spot #35. It’s on the end of the first row and it’s a straight pull through.
The spot itself is gravel. With our 36′ RV and Mercedes toad, we just made it, end to end. #34 is bigger, but our spot was on the end, and we liked having the extra grassy knoll. Nothing fancy, full hook ups, good water pressure and a picnic table and BBQ grill, that’s it.
You can’t visit Memphis without dinner at Malone’s! This is a must do on the list, and they’ll pick you up from your RV in a Pink Cadillac! 🙂
Here are a few pictures of the estate… The tour is interactive with a neck mounted iPad. Very interesting! Plan on about three hours.
Most people don’t know that Elvis had a twin brother! His grave was moved here to the Garden of Memories, a few spots over from Elvis.
The campground featured:
- Full Hookup Sites
- 30/50 Amp Service
- Bathhouse and laundry facilities (Very clean)
- Bike & Walking Trails
- Tent Area
- Patrolled 24-hour Security
- Free wireless internet access (Very strong, and we were far away)
- Swimming Pool
- Available Memphis cabins with heating and air-conditioning
- Camping store providing ice, drinks, propane, groceries, souvenirs, books, t-shirts, camping and RV supplies and a small business center. Nice!
Brochures and local information was also available in the store along with maps and other related items. The office staff can assist you in making reservations for tours and dining out at represented restaurants in the area. The office staff was beyond helpful!
If visiting Memphis, I fully recommend this campsite! Make sure you call ahead for reservations! It’s a very small place.
